A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer----Writings To Stop Violence Against Women and Girls, is a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle and commissioned by V-Day for the first V-Day: Until the Violence Stops festival, which took place June 2006 in New York City. All proceeds from the book will benefit V-Day.

Some of the areaˇ¦s finest actresses (Mari Keegan, Laurie Torosian, Val Verge, Amy Friedman, Rosemary Dann, Kristin McGregor, Tajoura Davis, Maria Barry, Renee Macneil, Mariah Sefel, and Deborah Shaw, who also directs the event) are donating their talent and diverse voices to perform pieces on the many issues that affect women and those that love them. The evening features such authors and topics as: Kathy Najimy on teenage challenges; Susan Miller on raising a son as a single mother; Kate Clinton on humor; Edward Albee on marriage; Alice Walker on womanˇ¦s strength; and more. These writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. Above all, together they create a true and profound portrait of how violence against women affects every one of us.
