July LUNCH CONNECTIONS: Are You an Active Bystander?

July LUNCH CONNECTIONS: Are You an Active Bystander?

How to Help People We Know and Our Community

Have you ever been concerned about a friend’s relationship and not sure what to do? Or been witness to a concerning situation and been confused about ways to intervene?

Join us on July 29th for our next Lunch Connections to learn about how you can help a friend and others in our communities.

What does it mean to be a bystander, and how we can mobilize to address the culture of violence that surrounds us? In the July session, we’ll reflect on what gets in the way of supportive bystander behavior and share tips on how to intervene in a safe and empathetic way. And you’ll acquire new skills and resources for giving additional support.

You will learn to:

  • Define and apply the concept of being a responsible, active bystander.
  • Reflect on personal barriers of bystander intervention.
  • Increase awareness (and become more aware) of the prevalence and negative impact of relationship and sexual violence (and stalking) in our culture.
  • Apply strategies to address relationship violence and stalking.
